Chong Kai War Memorial or Khao Pun Allied War Cemetery is situated on the bank of Khwae Noi river near Mueang Kanchanaburi wharft and just 2 kilometers away from downtown. The cemetery covers the area of 7 Rai (11,200 square meters) which was the location of a massive camp for prisoners of war. Currently the cemetery is pleasantly beautiful and embellished with flowers, yet smaller than Don Rak War memorial. It contains 1,740 graves mainly of the British and the Commonwealth armies.
It is possible to get there by car and by boat. Although there are bus services from the River Khwae Bridge, the main entrance is accessible by driving. From the River Khwae Bridge, drive back to Sangchuto Road (Highway No. 323). Then cross a bridge and make a left turn to Highway No. 3305. Keep going and you will find Chong Kai War Memorial. Unlike Donrak War Memorial, cars are strictly prohibited, so you have to find nearby parking space.
