Khao Laem Sing Forest Park is located at Bang Kachai subdistrict, Laem Sing district, Chanthaburi province. Its vast area of 9,500 Rai falls under the responsibility of Khlong Phliu National Conserved Forest. It is bordered to the north by Ban Laem Sing and the provincial highway, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand, to the east by Ban Laem Sing and the sea, to the west by the Gulf of Thailand. It has been declared a forest park by the Royal Forest Department on 25 October 1983.

The general topography consists of small mountains, about 172 meters above sea level, protruding into the sea. Those mountains are occupied by dry evergreen forest. The name “Khao Laem Sing” was given because the frontal crag, which juts out into the sea, resembles the shape of a crouching lion with a head, body, tail, feet and eyes.

In addition, the coastal areas of Khao Laem Sing Forest Park include beaches and islands, for example Koh Nomsao island, Koh Chula island and Ao Krating bay. Tourists can walk from the Office on the hill to the small golden beach of Ao Krating to enjoy the tranquility and colorful coral reefs.

The location of Khao Laem Sing Forest Park which is in the eastern part of the Gulf of Thailand results in constant sea breeze and frequent rain showers. The average temperature is 25 -30 degree Celsius.

The dry evergreen forest is dominated by a few significant plants, e.g. Mersawa, Gurjan Balsam, and Jambolan Plum. On the other hand, a long stretching line of the beach forest along the western coast of Khao Laem Sing, Koh Nomsao and Koh Chula contains Common Ironwood, Bengal Almond and December tree.

In terms of regional fauna commonly found are mainly small-sized animals. For example, mouse deer, wild boar, porcupine, hare, squirrel, bamboo rat, mole rat, crab-eating macaque. Birds are such as spotted dove, red-headed trogon, lesser and greater coucal, swallow, and several kinds of kingfishers. Aquatic animals living near coral reefs along the coastline of Koh Nomsao include snapper, Indian mackerel, chub mackerel, mullet, shrimp, squid, and many kinds of crab and shellfish.

To get to Khao Laem Sing Forest Park by car, head off from Tha Mai district by using Tha Mai – Bang Kachai route for 25 kilometers. The route will take you pass Wat Laem Sing and cut through mountains until reaching the forest park office. Alternatively, tourists can hire a boat from Laem Sing beach for 400 meters. Then continue walking for the distance of 400 meters.
