Established in 1989, this marine park covers nearly 80,000 acres of beaches, sea and islands. Mu Koh Chumphon National Park includes a number of beautiful beaches, such as Hat Thung Makham and Hat Sai Ri in Amphoe Mueang, Hat Arunothai in Amphoe Thung Tako, and Hat Tong Khrok in Amphoe Lang Suan. Off shore, the park encompasses more than 40 islands such as Koh Chorakhe, Koh Ngam, Koh Samet, Koh Maphrao, Koh Mattra, Koh Thong Lang, Koh Langka Chio and several islands in Amphoe Thung Tako. Most of these islands offer fine white sand beaches and coral reefs attractive to swimmers, snorkelers and scuba divers. Two of the islands are refuges for swiftlets, the birds whose nests are used in bird’s nest soup.
The park office is on the mainland, about 21 kilometers from Chumphon town. Taking Highway 4001, turn right to Hat Sai Ri, then turn right again, continuing for 8 kilometers. The Tourist Information Center for Mu Koh Chumphon National Park is connected with wooden walkways for nature walks to study coastal plants and animals. Visitors can travel to the islands by boat from the office or can stay overnight in tents near the office.
In addition, visitors can hire boats to travel among islands in the park at prices depending on the destination and type of boat. For more information, call 0 7755 8144.
