Catagorize: Temple
Contact: - Tel. -

Wat Phra That Mahachai is composed of the 37-metre stupa regarded as a sacred monument as it houses relics of the Lord Buddha and Arhats. The temple also houses sacred Buddha images; namely, Phra Phutthachaiyasit, the principal Buddha image, as well as a Buddha image carved from a Neem tree, which is the largest of its kind in Thailand. The temple also offers one of the magnificent mural paintings of North East region.

King Rama IX and the Queen performed the Buddha relic’s placement ceremony on 25th May, 1975 which was on the 15th day of the 6th waxing moon or Visakha Bucha Day. The temple was also where Luang Pu Kamphan known as Phra Soon Ton Ma Gon was resided. Wat Phra That Mahachai represents Wendesday; it is believed that those who are born on Wednesday should pray at this temple.

To visit, Getting away from the city about 39 kilometers route Nakhon Phanom - Nakhon. Highway 22 (201 to 202 yards, turn left into the next 2 kilometers I had to leave the photo thread.
