Wat Rat Uppatham(Wat Bang Riang) is situated on Khao Lan in Ban Bang Riang, approximately 11 kilometres from Thap Put District Office on Highway No. 4118. The temple houses a bell-shaped chedi surrounded by niches of Buddha images. Wat Rat Uppatham is surrounded by forested mountains. The chedi was called “Phrathat Chedi Thepnimit” and renamed by His Majesty the King as “Phra Mahathat Chedi Phutthathambanlue” , a pagoda containing relics of the Buddha; and image of Buddha sheltered by Naga’s hood. The temple also houses images of Kwan Yin – Goddess of Mercy – and Phra Phuttha-atthi Mongkhonchai Nak Prok – Buddha seated under the Naga’s hood, which was cast and intended to protect the southerners from natural disasters.
