Kaeng Krachan Dam is a multi-purposes hydro-electric project located in Phetchaburi province. The project provides water for irrigation, fishery and power generation. The dam was built in 1966 and created a reservoir of 46.5 sq.km. It has become tourist attraction site with beautiful scenery, water sports, resorts and golf club. The dam has 30-40 small islands which creates a stunningly beautiful scenery. So, it is the best for a boat ride. Most of boats here are long-tail boat and the cost depends on the distance. Boat hire for fishing is also available. Kaeng Krachan is 35km. fat from Phetchaburi town and 3km. far from Kaeng Krachan National Park. Take the route to Kaeng Krachan National Park. From Bangkok, take highway 35 to Pak Tho district, Ratchaburi province. Then. Take highway 4 passing the intersection to Phetchaburi town. When arriving 4-way intersection, turn right to Tha-Yang district and follow the highway 3499 which runs parallel to the concrete irrigation canal until Phet Dam and then further on to Kaeng Krachan dam. By bus, take Bangkok – Tha Yang bus and get off at Tha Yang market and then take a mini-bus to Kaeng Krachan market and take a taxi or motorcycle taxi to the office of the National Park.
