Nong Khuean Change Handicraft Village is located at Ban Nhong Khuean Chang, Tha Song Khon subdistrict, Muang district, Maha Sarakham province. The distance from the city to Maha Sarakham - Khon Kaew route is
around 16 kilometers.
For the story of the village, Ban Hong Khuean Chang is a village in Muang district, Maha Sarakham province. In 1687, people migrated from Ban Muang Hong Muang Thong, Roi Et province. This land was a forest with many kinds of animals. In the middle was the pond where elephants always came to shower themselves. Therefore, it was called “Thuean Chang” and slightly changed into “Khuean Chang” and has later been called as “Ban Nhong Khuean Chang”.
Ban Nhong Khuean Chang is located in the west of Maha Sarakham province. The overall area is 9 square kilometers of plain land. Most people are agriculturists on over 9 million square meters agricultural fields. The population is of 1,896 people. There are subdistrict headmen, village headmen, chiefs and village committees who take care of the village. The 7th Moo has 187 families with 939 people who are 460 men and 479 women.
Ban Nhong Kheuan Chang weaving group has been producing handicraft products since in the past.
Most people are keen on weaving. They have established this group since 1988. Later, the group developed the products to match the market’s need. When there is a new group separated from the village. The group was expanded into 3 groups. The members in each group together produce the product or process the products according to the objectives of the group. The products are collected at the center to be sold by the group.
