It is located in Bang Nam Phueng Sub-district, Phra Pradaeng District in Samut Prakan Province. It was established from the cooperation between Bang Nam Pheung Sub-district Administration Organization and local community in attempt to revive the way of life in the past by recreating the floating market to be a place to sell crops from local and nearby communities.
At this floating market, there are plenty of foods for tourists to shop such as the famous local delicacy, Kanom Krok Hoi Tord (Coconut Pudding with Mussels), salty boiled Tapien Fish, Bon curry, fried fish paste balls and many more. There are also varieties of plants, beautiful fishes and fruits such as young coconuts, Nam Doc Mai mangos and local vegetables, sold in a very cheap price.
Apart from shopping at the market and tasting foods until you are full, Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market also has many activities for tourists to do such as taking boat trip along the canals to experience the lifestyle of people lived by the canals or renting a bicycle to explore the green area in the shape of “Kraproa Moo” (Pig Stomach) of Phra Pradaeng District and to see the lives of the farmers and the beautiful nature.
If feeling tired, at the back of the market, there is a botanical garden where tourists can relax in a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful flower decorations for tourists to take pictures. There are also Music in the Garden shows performed in some periods as well.
How to Get There: After going down from the Dao Kanong – Suksawat highway, on Suksawat Raod, you will meet Phra Pradaeng – Suksawat intersection. Turn left near BP gas station until reaching Phra Pradaeng market. Turn left to Wat Songtham Worawihan and go along Phetchaheung Road for about 5 kilometers. Turn right at Soi Phetchaheung 26 and you will see a sign to enter the floating market. If travel by public bus, take buses no. 82, 138 or 6 and drop off at Phra Pradaeng market. Then take the Phra Pradaeng – Bang Kor Bua public bus which passes Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market.
