The Elephant Study Center or the Baan Ta Klang Elephant Village is where the tourists can see the elephant’s way of living including the bond between human and elephant closely. The Ta Klang villagers breed the elephants like a member of their families. This village was known as the biggest elephant village in the world.
Originally, the villagers here are the Suai (Kui) people who are experts in seizing elephants and training them. They used to seize the elephants at the border of Cambodia. However, with the political issue during this time, they could not seize the elephants there anymore. Therefore, they breed their own elephants and train them for the annual performance.
The villagers treat their elephants like a member in their families. They eat and sleep together. The tourists will be able to feel the bond between the human and elephants. Moreover, 3 kilometers from this village is the view point where the Chee and the Mul river combines.
The Elephant Study Center is the center of elephants from Baan Ka Poh, Ta Klang and other nearby villages. Most elephants here are kind and friendly. The tourists can play with them
