Luang Por Petch at Bang Temple
Luang Por Petch at Bang Temple is located in Tambon Muang, Muang District, Kamphaeng Phet which is an important and one of the most respected Buddha image in the province. It is located inside a vihara (image hall). In 1936, Luang Por Phew Thammati Mutamuni, the abbot of Bang Temple and the dean of Kamphaeng Phet monks at that time, and Luang Por Pha, respectfully moved Luang Por Petch from Tor Mor Temple as the principle Buddha image in an ancient viharn to Bang Temple together with Luang Por Sukhothai but it was not widely known.
Bang Temple was previously not open for the public to pay respect but recently, Bang Temple has opened for those who believe in Luang Por Petch to worship. Luang Por Petch was a Chiang Saan art bronze image in the attitude of subduing Mara called Singha 1 which is rare. It is a beautiful Buddha image bigger than Luang Por Petch in Phichit at the approximate size of 1.35x0.87 metres. The image is more than 800 years old now. People in Kamphaeng Phet believe that those who have a chance to worship will be rich and prosperous like in Chiang Saan time. The temple opens daily 09.00 – 20.00.
