Wat Tham Phu Wa is located at Nhong Yha Sub Ditrict, Muang District, Kanchaniburi. The temple lies on 4,000 acres land and the building was made in a Khmer style. It is all surrounded by mountains which made the atmosphere stays cool, shady yet peaceful. So, here is a perfect place for meditation. At first, the beautiful grotto was counted as the main Buddhist sanctuary. But, after the renovation, the grotto was covered with a large limestone cave system. Inside the cave, there are many beautiful stalactites and a relic of the Buddha that was invited from Myanmar, as well as the attitude of the Buddha of Subduing Mara as principle Buddha image in a temple.


Wat Tham Phu Wa can carry over 500 people who intend to come over for practicing the dharma. Lodging, bedrooms, cafeterias, toilets and varied kinds of activities are provided here. The temple becomes popular among both Thais and foreigners as visitors came here for appreciating this cave temple as well as paying homage to the Buddha images.


The easiest ways to get to Wat Tham Phhu wa are to drive to Kanchanaburi-Baan Kao road, turn left when you spot the kilometer markers 16 and keep going through Phu Pra Doo-Wang Larn road for 6 more kilometers OR to take a ferry from Tha Nam Nha Muang which will pass by Wat Tham Khao Poon and Suan Somdej Pra Srinakarin. Then, take a car and turn right between the kilometer markers 49-48 and go for 5 kilometers farther to Phra Pra Doo-Wang Larn road, later, you will reach at the destination.


Wat Tham Phu Wa opens daily with no charges for an entrance fee. Also, you can enjoy shopping food and souvenirs here such as Tha Rua glass noodle, coconut gelatins, stir tamarinds, stuff from Myanmar, Chili sauces, diamonds, wooden furniture, handmade twill, and various kinds of fruits; sweet tamarinds, Termite mushrooms, custard apples, Palmyra.
