Saint Anna Nong Saeng Catholic church is one of ancient chapels in Nakhon Phanom town located right on the river at the far north end. The church is situated on Suntornwichit road along the Khong River, at Nong Saeng Village, Muang district, the opposite side of Laos. It was constructed in 1926 by Christian reverend called Edour Namlab. The church represents a melting pot of diverse ethnic cultures and traditions including Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and Laotians. The architectural interior design of this monument is uniquely beautiful with colonial style made of bricks. Certain constructing materials were imported from Saigon, Vietnam. The church was turned into Edour Namlab Foundation. The church was once used for holding Christian ceremonies, but it was later bombed by France during conflict period with Indochina. Later it has been renovated and before Christmas Eve, Christians will make different styles of stars and put them together in the church. The church stands as a symbol of an international city that welcomes inhabitants from all walks of life.
