These three small islands, close to one another, are situated approximately 7km. farfrom Ban NongSamet Coast. They can be reached within about 30 minutes and about 15 minutes by speedboat.KoThalu has an area of approximately 1,000 Rai and is about 2 km. long from north to south. It contains beaches, mountains and coconut gardens which are still unspoiled. The beaches are white and clean, e.g. AoMuk, a tranquil beach with fine white sand and crystal clear water, Ao Sai Yai, which is suited for diving, kayaking and sailing, AoThian, which hasa spectacular view with a lot of trees named “Thian”. On the beach at the east part of the island there is a cemetery of coral reef carried by the sea. In the north part of the islandyou can find a rock cliff and a big rock hole caused by wind and the sea through which we can see the sea on the other side andso the island is named “KoThalu” (“Thalu” literally means “pierced through”)for this reason.

The surrounding areas of the KoThalu and KoSangare full ofattractiveshallow coral reefs e.g. staghorn coral,knobbed hump coral, anemone coral and beaches with clean white sand. It is suitable for those who prefer private and quite atmosphere and also ideal for diving to see coral reefs or schools of beautiful fish. The tourists can also do activities like camping, trekking, rock climbing or even kayaking to see the scenery around the island whichtakes around 2.30 hours. Besides, boat service or accommodation are also provided on the island. The tourists can rent a boat at Ban Pak Khlong Pier which is only 20 minutes away.

For those who are interested, you can get there either by car or bus. By car, fromPhetkasemRoad, turn left at Km. 399along Bang Saphan – the beach roadfor about 10km., passing ThaKwianMarket and Bang Saphan Market. At Bang Saphan Market, turn right to Bang Saphan-Nong Hat Thai Road, passing PhongPrasatSubdistrict Administrative Organizationfor about 10km. Turn left at the crossroads in front of the police booth to KoThalu Pier. By bus, take the Bangkok-Bang SaphanNoi air-conditioned bus from the newBangkok Southern Bus Terminal. The bus will pass the entrance of KoThalu Pier taking approximately5.30 hours.
