Songkhla Zoo is the first zoo of southern region. It is located among the hill and encircled with Songkhla Zoo in KhaoRoob Chang, Muang District, Songkhla Province. It was officially opened on 3 October 1998. There are many animals for visitors from Songkhla and nearby provinces such as tapirs, chevrotains, camels, lamas, giraffes, bears, tigers, monkeys, gibbons, deer, antelopes, barking deer, parrots, macaws, cassowaries, and flamingos.
The zoo exhibits many animals, both in Thailand and also from abroad such as camels, bantengs, tigers, and crocodiles. Apart from interesting animals that are worth to study, the zoo also has a view point where you can see the scenery of Songkhla Province. There are restaurants for visitors. There are also the sculptures of dinosaurs, prehistoric men, and rare animals.
This zone exhibits of various animals such as various deer including chitals, antelopes, wild deer, red barking deer, fea'smuntjacs, chevrotains, mountain goats, bantengs, and bisons. This zone also exhibits heavy animals including elephants and hippos.
This exhibition shows poultry in Thailand and also abroad in the families of parrots, macaws, waterfowls, hornbills, pheasants, and other beautiful rare birds. There are 13 types of Thai hornbills and there are 6 types of hornbills in Songkhla Zoo.
The center has various kinds of tiger including Bengal tigers, Indo China tigers, black jaguars, leopards, clouded leopards, and other rare animals in tiger family. The bear zone is about 100 meters from the tiger center.
This zone exhibits chimpanzees, orangutans, various types of Thai monkeys, langurs, and gibbons. Each type of animals live in the appropriate environment which is similar to nature.
5.Tapir exhibitionand breeding center
The center was established according to the policy of the Zoological Park Organization that promoted Songkhla Zoo to be the preservation and breeding center of wildlife that are originally born in southern region.4 reserved wild animals in Thailand are exhibited here including antelopes, mountain goats, fea'smuntjacs, and tapirs.

Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays: 3 times per day at 10.30 a.m., 1.30 p.m., and 3.30 p.m.

Apart from many kinds of wildlife, Songkhla Zoo also has a large water park in over 10-rai area. From here, you can see the panoramic view of Songkhla Province. In the water park, there are a giant swimming pool, sliders, Jacuzzis, and restaurants. The water park is opened daily from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
